NORVIK: SESSION SEVEN

Chapter One: Below Norvik

After the rest of the party entered the caverns under Norvik, a short bit of investigating down the winding tunnels led to a surprising discovery: Several intact buildings and streets from the long ago earthquake, sucked into the earth and still inhabitable! And inhabited they were….several dark shapes were seen scuttling from building to building, whispering and following the party as they made their way through the clammy and wet blocks of the old city. More curious than afraid, the party attempted to contact the beings, but they proved elusive. Soon a screaming caused them to rush to a spot that overlooked a brackish lake of water with a ruined dock extending out….a disgusting being of the water, an aquatic troll (known as a Scrag) was dragging what looked like a primitive human-like creature from one of the buildings down to the water! Acting quickly, the party used fire and sword to dispatch the scrag permanently, and rescue the mongrelman. At this, the inhabitants of the town began slowly emerging from their hovels and crowding around the party of adventurers in awe.
The party huddled around a pile of phosphorescent lichen and soon dozens of curious shapes surrounded them, inbred mongrelmen who actually lived in the few buildings left standing in the part of the ruined city swallowed by the earthquake. Through poor yet understandable communication with the “leader”, the party learned that these were the survivors of the long ago disaster, trapped these many years below the city and forced to exist in almost total darkness. However, although escape was impossible, the survivors lived on the creatures they could catch such as rats and fish from the salt water dock area, and fresh water from a nearby pool. Unfortunately, recent events had decimated the tribe. A small family of scrags had moved into an underwater chamber, and hunted down the mongrelmen as food. Then, recently, human from above had invaded their city and explored the “evil place” in one corner of the sunken city. Sure enough, by the light of their torches, the adventurers could glimpse a large three story tower in one corner of the cavern…..the lost citadel of the Triad!

Chapter Two: The Citadel
Seeing the citadel, the party then realized the purpose of the Triad’s quest: loot whatever magic, gold and evil knowledge had lain undiscovered these many years below the city of Norvik. Further questioning of the mongrelmen revealed that the “dead humans”, the zombies, were being used as cheap labor by the triad members who had been forced to dig out the entrance to the citadel.

(To be completed...the remainder of the party's battle against the Triad and worse underneath the city of Norvik)
